About Theresa

As a child, I loved creating things. I would race home from school bursting with excitement to share my newest art project. I would create handmade streamers and banners from typing paper (yes, typing paper), scissors, staplers and markers for family members' birthday celebrations. Later, I would make cards, party favors, and crafty holiday gifts.

After finishing my graduate degree in Organization Development, I embarked on the great journey of motherhood. My desire to create jewelry began after the birth of my first child. I searched and searched for a "mother" necklace representing my son, but it took two years to find something I liked. During this search, I decided I would make jewelry some day and I began sketching.

After years of sketching and two more children, I stepped into a local cafe and saw a display of seven lion paintings named, "The Seven Faces of Courage." One painting particularly stood out to me, as well as a quote by the artist, Steve Brumme. "We live, I believe, with only two basic choices, to find our courage to be anything we love or to run from our fears. The choice of courage brings us love, security and peace." I was so struck by the painting and the message; I knew it was time to have the courage to do what I love, which is to make meaningful jewelry. The "Lion of Courage" piece was created from this experience.

The lion painting now sits in my living room and I still love the intensity yet softness of his eyes. Courageous. Powerful. Beautiful.
